Are there any more victims of child luring and pornography?

Durham Police yesterday said a male has been arrested following an investigation into child luring and child pornography in Oshawa.

Police are concerned there may be other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward.

In March, members of the DRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) began an investigation into a male who was communicating with underage females overseas. The suspect sent sexually explicit materials and requested sexually explicit photos and videos in return. The communications were sent through the application ‘KIK’ with the account name ‘themachine2112,’ and vanity name ‘Vince Georgio’, said a police report.

The suspect also made arrangements to meet with what he believed to be an underage female, at a nearby park to engage in sex acts, it added.

On Friday, May 31, members of the ICE Unit attended a residence in the King Street West and Thornton Road South area, to arrest the suspect and execute a search warrant. The suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident. Numerous electronic devices were located and seized.

The suspect, age 32 from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Durham Police acknowledged the assistance of the Canadian National and Ontario Provincial Strategies to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Powell of the Major Crime Internet Child Exploitation Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5545.

Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name or identify the accused as:
1. Of this time, they are suspect[s] and not convicted by a court, and
2. Sometimes charges are amended or dropped.
