Teen girl arrested for attacking a police officer

Durham Police yesterday said a female youth has been arrested after attacking a police officer following a disturbance in Whitby.

On Sunday, June 2 at about 10:10 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a family dispute at a residence in the area of Taunton Road West and Thornton Road North.

A female from the residence was causing a disturbance with her parents and was refusing to leave the property. After speaking with officers, the female agreed to leave the residence but wanted her vape from her bedroom. When the female did not immediately get her vape, she attacked an officer. The female was restrained and taken into custody, said a police report.

The police officer attended a local area hospital for minor injuries.

A 15-year-old female from Whitby was charged with: Assault a Peace Officer, and Disobey an Order of the Court. She was held for a bail hearing.
