Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday evening reported about a man who tried to steal a police vehicle even though his own was in working order.
The man even tried to eject a police woman officer from her car so he could steal it.
“An officer was approached by a male who attempted to steal her marked police car on Victoria Street East in Whitby,” said a police alert.
“The male attempted to remove the officer from her vehicle and disarm her,” it said.
Apparently being unsuccessful, the man fled the area in his own vehicle, but was arrested a short distance away, police said promising more information to follow later.
