Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday afternoon had to ask motorists to avoid St. Lawrence and Simcoe Street South area in Oshawa due to a partial collapse of a building.
“Officers are on the scene of a partial building collapse at St. Lawrence and Simcoe Street S. in Oshawa. No reported injuries. Please avoid the area,” said a police tweet.
Meanwhile DRPS North Division reported results from a traffic blitz held recently.
Officers conducted a two-week traffic safety blitz near schools in North Division and issued 412 tickets, 45 cautions, three (30-day driving licence suspension and 14 vehicle impounds), and one impaired driving arrest, it reported.
It also said a truck driver was charged with driving a motor vehicle on a highway while holding/using a hand-held wireless communication device (top image).
Hands-free mode is allowed when driving, it added.
North Division officers also caught a driver speeding at 118kmh in a 80-zone in Scugog (image below).
