Power crews repair hydro pole sheared by truck

It took several hours, but Oshawa Power crews managed to repair a hydro pole that was sheared off at the bottom with half of it suspended in air by the power lines.

Traffic was impacted along Ritson and Adelaide roads in Oshawa with Durham Police issuing warnings to avoid the area as the crews worked on a not-so-nice-day.

The accident took place early morning when a truck took out the bottom half of the hydro pole.

By late after noon Oshawa Power reported: “Happy to report that repairs were complete by late afternoon and we were able to avoid a power outage. We appreciate everyone taking extra caution when driving around the area while our crews worked.”

Durham Regional Police earlier tweeted: “Roads affected after this collision in Oshawa, crews working to restore the pole. This is the 4th pole taken out since yesterday morning. Please slow down and drive according to the road conditions and the posted speed limit.”
