Record 63 new covid cases reported in Durham

For the day after Halloween, Durham Health posted a record 63 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 3,098 since the count began on February 29. Day-to-day comparison shows 64 new cases. Recoveries tally 2,689, up by 32.

The last spike of 52 new cases was reported on October 23.

  • Twenty-seven new cases were reported in Ajax
  • Fourteen in Pickering
  • Twelve in Whitby
  • Six in Oshawa, and
  • Five in Clarington

Nine cases are hospitalized with five in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 218 people in home isolation.

One new covid-related death was announced for October 15 in Durham. Previous death was announced on July 9.

Deaths so far total 182, of which 153 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 911 in Ajax, followed by 880 in Pickering and 510 in Oshawa.

Death Toll: No new death

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 38 reported deaths in Ajax, 32 were in LTCH
Four deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
Seven deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
