Scugog plans to build four new parks by 2026

The Township of Scugog yesterday announced that the existing playground equipment at the Seagrave Park is currently up for public auction to the highest bidder on GovDeals.com, as per the Township’s procurement by-law.

The proceeds from the sale of the equipment will be invested into other township park infrastructure.

A statement said the 2022 Capital Budget includes the replacement of the playground equipment, including excavation of existing sand surface, installation of engineered wood fibre, supply and installation of new playground equipment.

Since 2018, the Township has been replacing one playground each year to ensure the safety of the equipment and to revitalize township parks.

Based on the 2022 capital budget and four-year forecast, the following parks are planned for replacement over the next five years:

  • Seagrave Park (2022),
  • Roy E. Carter Park in Blackstock (2023),
  • Herbert A. Bruce Park (2024);
  • View Lake Park (2025) and
  • Putsey Park in Caesarea (2026).
  • Other parks will be scheduled for future years.

In addition, with the new subdivisions being built in the township, four new parks with playgrounds are planned as follows:

  • Cawkers Creek Park (2022)
  • Ashgrove Park (2023)
  • Delpark Park (2024)
  • Castle Harbour Park (2026)
