UPDATED: Six hurt in Ajax shooting, police ask for witnesses

Durham Police investigators are looking for a suspect(s) after six people were shot on Monday morning in Ajax.

On August 1 at about 1:20 am, members from West Division were dispatched to a shooting call at the rear of the Dams Foods on Harwood Avenue South. Police located five people suffering from gunshot wounds. A sixth person showed up at a Toronto hospital, also suffering from a gunshot wound, said a police statement.

It’s believed that the suspect was in attendance at the customer appreciation party and was involved in a verbal altercation with some patrons. The suspect left the restaurant and hours later returned and opened fire at the party. Six adults, three females and three males were shot. Four suffered non-life threatening injuries and two victims suffered life-threatening injuries. All victims are listed in stable condition, police said.

Police interviewed several patrons of this after-hours party and continue to look for witnesses and evidence that would assist in identifying the suspects(s).

The only descriptors of the suspect is that he was a male. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-coloured four-door vehicle.

Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact Det. MacKinnon of the West Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.

Durham Police Forensic investigators were at the shooting scene collecting evidence.
