DRPS Traffic Services yesterday reported a miraculous escape for a snow removal driver whose vehicle was trashed in a crash (see above).
“Thankfully, the driver of this snow removal machine escaped with non life threatening injuries after being struck by another vehicle last [Thursday] night,” DRPS said following the start of snow yesterday afternoon.
“It’s snowing again! Please drive to the conditions. Leave lots of room and maybe even drive slower than the posted limit,” it said.
400 Crashes
Meanwhile, the OPP Highway Safety division yesterday posted that there were over 400 collisions and calls for service in the GTHA in the previous 24 hours.
On one such occasion a Toronto OPP officer was injured after being rear-ended while investigating a separate collision on Highway 401 near Whites Road.

Fortunately, only minor injuries were sustained, according to the OPP. Footage of the aftermath of the incident is included in the video below.
Road Rage
The OPP Highway Safety Division is also looking for witnesses to a road rage incident.
On January 14, around 5:50 pm a road‑rage incident occurred on Highway 401 eastbound before Salem Road in Ajax, involving a white pickup truck and a black minivan.
Dog spray repellent was deployed, and a passenger suffered minor injuries, police said.
A 41-year-old from Scarborough has been charged with:
• Assault with a weapon
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Administer a noxious thing
