Storm Damage: Power lines and trees downed

It may have been brief, but the thunderstorm of yesterday was powerful. It knocked down power lines and trees leading to road closures and power outages in several places across Durham.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday had to close Goodwood Road between Brock Road and Uxbridge Concession Road 6 due to downed hydro lines. The problem was fixed and the road was later reopened.

City of Oshawa urged residents to contact Service Oshawa to report trees/tree limbs down, streetlights out, flooding or debris blocking a roadway. For power outages, it asked them to check the Oshawa Power outage map.

Elexicon Energy reported several power outages in Ajax, saying approximately 11,500 customers were without power due to downed hydro poles.

It reported outages in Ajax areas such as Lakeridge Road North to Harwood Avenue and Taunton Rd,  Glendale Drive, areas of Rossland/Taunton and Westney Road/8th Concession.
