Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) again yesterday asked people to avoid part of William Jackson Drive in Pickering, but this time said there was an ongoing investigation into what could be human remains.
“Members of our Forensic Investigative Services Unit (FIS) are investigating what appear to be human remains,” said a brief alert.
“POLICE INVESTIGATION: Please expect a heavy police presence in the area of William Jackson Drive and Taunton Road West in Pickering, the alert said.
It added that William Jackson Drive between Taunton Road and Earl Grey Avenue was to be closed for an extended period. Please find an alternative route.
“Updates will be provided as they become available,” police said.
On Monday, October 6, the police had issued a similar advisory.
“There will be large police presence in the area of William Jackson Drive and Taunton Road West, in Pickering, for an active police investigation. There is no threat to public safety,” said the police alert.
