The City of Oshawa yesterday announced the opening of Rose Valley Community Park on October 4.
The city said more than 1,500 park enthusiasts enjoyed BMX demonstrations, pickleball workshops, the new extensive playground, face painting, a scavenger hunt and more.
Located at 1095 Thornton Road North (between Rossland and Taunton Roads), this major new addition to Oshawa’s park system is now fully open and ready for the community to enjoy.
Rose Valley Community Park features a wide range of accessible amenities for all ages and interests, including:
- Two playground areas
- Pickleball courts
- Shaded seating areas
- Formal gardens
- Self-cleaning washroom facilities
- Passive walking paths and enhanced green space
- Most notably, Rose Valley is now home to one of the largest BMX pump tracks in Canada and Ontario, the city said.
The park’s biking infrastructure includes:
- Asphalt pump tracks (3 combined): 290 metres
- Dirt BMX tracks (2 combined): 370 metres
- Mountain bike trails (2 combined): 950 metres
- Rose Valley offers multiple track types for BMX, mountain biking, and recreational use, making it a unique destination for cycling enthusiasts of all levels.
Two-year Long Project
Construction of Rose Valley Community Park began in October 2023 and was completed in Fall 2025. The development project incorporated community engagement feedback.
