Teachers Strikes: Ajax, Clarington holding camps

Ajax and Clarington have announced  camps for school children coming week — days when Ontario teachers have announced strikes and walk-outs.

Clarington’s School’s Out Camp is back to help parents find child care during school closures, said a municipal announcement.

It promises “an action-packed day of fun and games”.

All participants are asked to pack a nut-free lunch, bring extra drinks and dress appropriately as some activities may take place outdoors. Participants will have the opportunity to skate.

The Clarington camp takes place at South Courtice Arena from 8 am to 5 pm.

Participation is priced at $42.84 per resident child and $47.12 for non-resident children.

Ajax said in order to help offset the impact to residents, it will be offering Pop-Up Winter Day Camps on February 4th and 6th.

The camps will offer games, arts & crafts, activities, sports and recreational challenges and will be held at the McLean Community Centre.

Programming will allow for flexibility so participants can be dropped off any time after 8 am and picked up any time before 5 pm. Participants must bring peanut free am/pm snacks and a lunch.
