Thanksgiving dinners for those in need

This is not only the time of the year when we are thankful for what we receive – but it is also a time to remember those who are less fortunate and share with them the blessings.

Several institutions, companies and private individuals have been at the forefront of serving the less fortunate in our society – and many of them remain unsung heroes. But we have heard of at least two institutions that have organized Thanksgiving giveaways for those in need.

On Thursday, Pastor Garry Cuthbert and the Backdoor Mission 2021 organized a Thanksgiving dinner from 10 am through  to 1 pm.

Another instance was the Kendalwood Food Bank in Whitby, which needed help to support more than 200 families. North American Concrete stepped forward to deliver the turkeys to families in need. This collaboration was made possible by Feed the Need in Durham.

“I wanted to ensure that everyone in the community has full table on Thanksgiving. I remember times growing up when our family wasn’t in a financial position to enjoy a thanksgiving dinner,” Said Kyle Mufti, Chairman of North American Concrete. “Hard times come and go, but it’s the community that helps one another get through them. North American Concrete will continue to be a cornerstone in the community and we invite others to join us”.
