Metrolinx has announced that its Environmental Project Report is under public review, and looks at vital infrastructure improvements, which include Lakeshore East.
It proposes:
- Expanding Thickson Road rail bridge in the Town of Whitby
- A new platform at Oshawa GO Station
- New or upgraded tracks in several areas as well as new switches on all six corridors with 23 proposed switches on the Lakeshore East Corridor
Once the 30-day public review is completed, the questions, feedback and responses will be provided to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, for final review. The ministry has a 35-day review period before issuing a Statement of Completion early next year.
Metrolinx has also announced works on the three elevators in the east tunnel at Pickering GO which will be taken out of service while it carries out upgrades.
It said it has finished installing tactile yellow tiles at the edge of the train platform for improved accessibility at Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa stations. It has also added new digital signs on the train platform that will display schedule information.
