Careful around bodies of water, warn police

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has urged residents to “please be careful around bodies of water”.

The alert comes after Scugog Fire Services reported that it had received several concerning calls about people on Lake Scugog feet from open water.

“The lake is not yet safe, please stay safe,” it  said in a tweet.

“You might think it’s frozen solid but it isn’t safe unless you know how thick the ice is. You’re putting your own life in jeopardy and the lives of the first responders who come to rescue you! added the DRPS.
