Traffic Alert: Works on Rossland Road to last till August-end

Durham residents and road users are being advised of traffic restrictions on Rossland Road West (Regional Road 28) in Whitby, which will continue till the end of August.

The Regional Municipality of Durham said lane restrictions were scheduled to begin on July 13 and would last through August 30. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

The affected area of Rossland Road is between Des Newman Boulevard and McQuay Boulevard.

The region said lane restrictions will take place to modify the centre median island and eastbound curb lane, creating an eastbound and westbound turn lane that will lead into a proposed commercial development on the south side of Rossland Road West. There will be modifications to existing curb lines, centre median islands, the multi-use path and pavement markings.

One lane in each direction will be open to accommodate traffic along Rossland Road West. These restrictions are to ensure the safety of the traveling public and the construction workers.

The region said it realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
