Traffic Tales: Riding at will on Pickering roads + ditch dive

Only speficied sports utility vehicles (SUVs) are permitted on Ontario roads – not all kinds and certainly not all terrain vehicles (ATVs).

This seems to be a well-known fact judging by the number of calls to the police by concerned citizens except for the one man – the ATV driver – who was perhaps unaware of the rule.

“Operating an ATV on City of Pickering streets is dangerous and illegal,” said an alert from West Division DRPS on Tuesday.

“Multiple complainants notified police, including using social media, and the party was located, stopped and charged with various offences,” police added.

Ditch Dive

North Division DRPS yesterday reported that Uxbridge Concession Road 6 was closed from Davis Drive to Ashworth Road and Sanford Road from Uxbridge Concession Road 5 to Regional Road 1 for a traffic collision investigation (image below).

“Please use alternate routes,”

The road was reopened two hours later. “Thank you for your patience,” police said.
