It was a day of offbeat – but dangerous – occurrences on Durham roads yesterday.
First, Durham Police reported a tale of suspended drivers’ licences, and then Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division, recounted a case of “well done” beef on Highway 401.
In a series of tweets yesterday, it said Whitby OPP investigated a transport truck that had collided into the centre barrier of highway 401 and burst into flames.
The incident took place between the express and collectors at Brock Road. The truck struck the center barrier and burst in flames at 12:02 am.
Even though the truck was mangled and its cargo was destroyed, luckily, the driver was not injured.
The trailer contained sides of beef, “which is now considered ‘well done’, added the tweet.
The west bound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for the vehicle fire and clean-up recovery.
