Area schools on alert after bear seen in Courtice… again

There was police presence near some schools in Clarington after a bear was sighted in the area, according to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

The bear sighting was near Nash Road and Courtice Road yesterday afternoon. There are two schools in the area.

“The schools and the Courtice Community Complex have been advised of the sighting,” said a police tweet.

A DRPS statement said officers from the East Division responded to a call for a bear sighting in Courtice.

“The bear was seen going in the forest area between Courtice Secondary School and Courtice North Public School.

Police asked residents to report any further sightings at 1-866-514-2327 or TTY 705-945-7641. In an emergency call 911.
