Robber threatens staff with knife, flees on bike

An armed suspect is wanted after he stole a cellphone from a pharmacy in Whitby on Monday evening.

On May 30 at about 8 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Garden Street and Rossland Road. The suspect entered the store and grabbed a cellphone from the display counter. The male left the store without paying. The suspect when confronted by an employee, brandished a knife and threatened the employee before fleeing. It’s believed that he left on a dark mountain bike, said a police statement.

The employee didn’t suffer any physical injuries.

The suspect is described as male, White, 6’ tall, medium build, 22-25 years of age. He wore a black hoodie and jeans.
