Harley rider hits curb, suffers life-threatening injuries

A 60-year-old male was seriously injured after he lost control of his motorcycle in Whitby Sunday evening.

On May 29 at about 6:10 pm, members from Central West Division were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on White Ash Drive near Sugar Maple Crescent. Officers attended the area and discovered an injured motorcycle rider lying on the ground nearby a damaged Harley Davidson motorcycle, said a police statement.

The motorcycle appeared to have been travelling eastbound on White Ash Drive when it lost control, striking a curb and going off the roadway. The rider sustained serious head injuries as a result. He was air-lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
