Owner can get $240 fine + impound cost for friend’s violation

Durham Regional Police Service last week announced a raft of actions against traffic violators.

It said three suspended drivers have been taken off the road in Oshawa by the DRPS Central East Division.

“In all cases they were driving a friends vehicle. The friend can be charged and receive a $240 fine and impound costs for the towed vehicle. Don’t be that friend!” said a police tweet.

Meanwhile, DRPS West Division DRPS gave out tickets to stop sign runners on Fairport Road at Voyager (by Bonita Park).

This violation carries a $150 fine and three points.

DRPS East Division officers charged a driver for failing by to stop for school bus on Taunton Road at Old Scugog Road in Hampton.

Fail to stop for school bus total payable was $490 and six demerit points.

DRPS East Division officers also stopped a driver doing 136km in a 80km zone.

The incident occurred at Ganaraska Road at Hillen Road. Officers imposed a 14-day vehicle impound, plus 30-day licence suspension.
