Traffic Alert: Lane restrictions from today onward

Lane restrictions and road closures have been announced on some key Durham roads from today onward by the regional municipality and Oshawa.

It is advising residents of lane restrictions for road rehabilitation on Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) in the Municipality of Clarington.

  • When: May 30 to August 30. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Taunton Road from east of Darlington-Clarke Townline to west of Main Street, in the Municipality of Clarington.
  • Why: To safely complete road rehabilitation.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.

Lane restrictions on Enfield Road

Residents and visitors are advised of lane restrictions for road rehabilitation on Enfield Road (Regional Road 34) in the Municipality of Clarington.

  • When: May 30 to July 8. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Enfield Road from north of Highway 407 to north of Concession Road 7, in the Municipality of Clarington.
  • Why: To safely complete road rehabilitation.

Harbour Road will be closed to through traffic

Oshawa announced that Harbour Road will be closed to through traffic. Access to emergency vehicles will be provided if necessary. Temporary conditions signs will be posted in accordance with provincial standards.

  • When: Tuesday May 31, 2022 – from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
  • Where: between Farewell Street to Simcoe Street South
  • Why: Ed Broadbent Park – ground breaking ceremony

Lane restrictions on Taunton Road East in Oshawa

The Regional Municipality of Durham notified residents of lane restrictions on Taunton Road East (Regional Road 4), in the City of Oshawa.

  • When: June 6 to September 16. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Taunton Road East, from 110 m east of Wilson Rd. N. (Regional Road 35) to 400 m east of Wilson Rd. N., in the City of Oshawa.
  • Why: To construct a new intersection in support of new development.

Road Closure: Mary Street North

City of Oshawa said Mary Street North will be closed to through traffic. There will be no through access for emergency vehicles. Access to local traffic and residential driveways will be provided as necessary.

Temporary conditions signs will be posted in accordance with provincial standards.

When: From June 6, 2022 until July 4, 2022

Where: between Taunton Rd E and Ormond Dr

Why: Trans-Northern Integrity Dig (repair of existing 10″ pipeline) within the road allowance.
