A Facebook post got a driver from Scugog who failed to stop for a school bus, and nearly hitting several students in the process.
On May 30th, North Division Traffic Safety coordinator received a complaint from a post on a Facebook page about this driver was observed passing a school bus and nearly striking several students, said a police statement.
A 63-year old male from Scugog has been charged with drive motor vehicle – perform stunt, pass on right – not in safety, and failed to stop for school bus signal/ lights – overtaking.
The driver also had his truck towed and impounded for 14 days, and his licence suspended for another 30 days.
93 kmh in area with three schools
Durham Regional Police Service said officers from East Division spotted a driver doing 93 kmh in a 60km zone.
The area has three schools nearby. The incident took place in Clarington on Courtice Road near Holyrod.
The driver was fined $238 and given four demerit points.
Truck driver does 114 kmh
In Clarington, East Division officers found a truck doing 114 kmh in a posted 80- zone.
The incident was at RR 20 / Woodley Road.
The driver was 34 kmh over and was fined $259.
