Bowmanville Ave tunnel sink hole to take days to repair

The Municipality of Clarington yesterday announced that Alonna Street pathway and pedestrian tunnel under Bowmanville Avenue will remain closed for repairs.

The damage was caused after a water main break caused flooding and a sink hole formed, the statement said.

It said crews will be working to repair the damage over the next few days.

Schools in the area yesterday started alerting parents.

“We have just been informed by the city that the tunnel under Bowmanville Avenue (Durham Highway 57) will be closed for at least the remainder of the week due to a sink hole,” said a schools’ advisory.
