Two teens held for Ajax, Bowmanville robberies

Durham Police investigators arrested two teens from Peel Region and seized a firearm following two cellphone robberies in Bomwanville and Ajax.

On Tuesday, May 4, robbery investigators executed search warrants at two residences, one in Mississauga and the other in Brampton. Police seized a loaded handgun in the Mississauga residence. Police arrested the two suspects without incident.

A 16-year-old male from Brampton, faces nine charges including: Robbery x2; Disguise with Intent; Flight from Police and Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance.

A 14-year-old male from Mississauga faces 16 charges including: Possession of a Schedule I Substance; Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Careless Storage of a Firearm; Robbery x2 and Disguise with Intent.

They were both held for bail hearings.

Courtice hatchet robber arrested

Members from East Division have arrested a male in relation to two armed robberies that occurred in Courtice in April.

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, members from East Division located the suspect in a parking lot near Highway 35/115, in Clarington, and he was taken into custody.

Jamie Lewis, age 36, of Courtice, is charged with: Robbery with Offensive Weapon; Robbery; Disguise with Intent x2; Possession of Weapons Dangerous to the Public; and Theft Under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
