Two trucks and a car pile-up closes eastbound 401 express

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division yesterday reported a three-vehicle collision that closed off Highway 401 eastbound lanes for hours.

It said the incident was reported at 4:14 am and affected Highway 401 eastbound express at Liverpool Road in Pickering.

Two commercial motor vehicle (transport trucks) and one passenger car were involved in the collision. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. There were no other injuries, police said.

In an advisory at 5:23 am, OPP announced eastbound express lanes had been closed for clean up. “Please stick to the collectors.”

OPP Highway Safety Division said in a later update that Highway 401 eastbound express lanes from Whites Road were expected to reopen before 12 noon.
