The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced the upcoming road closure of Bloor Street East (Regional Road 22), from Wilson Road South (Regional Road 35) to Ritson Road South (Regional Road 16), in the City of Oshawa for watermain and sanitary sewer work.
The project is tentatively scheduled to begin this summer and be completed in summer 2021. Detour routes will be posted, said a municipal statement.
This construction project includes local watermain and sanitary sewer replacement, a new larger diameter watermain, and road reconstruction. This work is necessary to replace aging infrastructure and to ensure residents continue to have access to safe, reliable and clean municipal drinking water. Throughout construction, Bloor Street East will be closed to all but local traffic which includes those looking to access local businesses. Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the closure and Durham Region offers a helpful overview of what businesses can expect during construction, including tips on how to minimize the inconvenience on their business, at durham.ca/OpenForBusiness, the statement said.
Drivers should expect delays and are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews. Durham Region Transit will also be affected along Bloor Street East and additional instructions will be provided for alternate bus stops and routes, it added.
Lane restrictions are expected for northbound and southbound traffic on Wilson Road, where temporary overnight and weekend work will be required to facilitate some construction activities. The Region of Durham realizes that the work is disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Bennett Road to temporarily close
Bennett Road is to close from Wilmot Creek Drive to the CN Rail crossing on Sunday, July 19, for Hydro services works.
