A seemingly innocent ‘scarecrow’ in the middle of a cornfield may have fooled the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers from afar – but it was no match for canny police service dog Flex, who tracked it and brought it down.
Apparently, the scarecrow had previously stolen a vehicle and managed to crash it into the aforesaid cornfield.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle ran into the field and hid.
DRPS Canine Unit PC Handscomb, K9 Flex and Whitby officers tracked and located the suspect.
K9 Flex located one suspect attempting to imitate a “scarecrow”.
“The ‘Scarecrow’ wisely surrendered without incident!” said DRPS Canine Unit in a tweet.
