The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced a raft of traffic restrictions, including road closures, for infrastructure works.
Road closures have been announced in Ajax, Oshawa and Clarington.
Church Street in Ajax
Church Street (Regional Road 24) in the Town of Ajax, will be closed as part of the ongoing watermain construction on Taunton Road West (Regional Road 4).
Road closure will be in place from October 27 to 31. Entire project is anticipated for completion by June 2026.
Road closure will be in place on Church Street, between Taunton Road and Rossland Road. Access for local traffic onto Church Street will remain open from Rossland Road only. Access onto Church Street from Taunton Road will be closed.
Wilson Road North in Oshawa
The region said Wilson Road North (Regional Road 35) in the City of Oshawa will be closed day and night November 3 to 7, from Cavendish Court to Hillcroft Street.
The closure will be in place to safely install water and sanitary services.
Taunton Road in Clarington
Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) in the Municipality of Clarington, will be closed as part of its ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction project.
Road closure will be in place from October 25 to November 29. Entire project is anticipated for completion by summer 2026.
Road closure will be in place on Taunton Road, between Townline Road and Enfield Road. Detour notices will be in place.
Road closure is need for the removal and replacement of a concrete culvert.
Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedules, the region said.
It said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of the driveway.
Businesses will remain open for the duration of construction.
