UPDATE: Whitby pedestrian was lying on the road

A 22-year-old Oshawa male was seriously injured after being struck by a motor vehicle on a roadway in Whitby on Tuesday.

On December 3 at 8:15 pm, members from Central West Division were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Consumers Drive at the Highway 401 on-ramp in Whitby. The driver of a black Ford F-150 pickup truck was travelling westbound on Consumer Drive when he struck the male who was lying on the road for unknown reasons, said a police media update.

The 22-year-old male was pinned underneath the truck until emergency services were able to lift the truck in order to extricate the victim.

The driver stopped and was co-operative with the investigation.

The 22-year-old male was taken to a Toronto area trauma center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
