Mayor Shaun Collier and the Ajax Mayor’s Gala Committee are thrilled to announce that the 2021 Virtual Road Trip has raised $200,000 to directly support Ajax charities and initiatives.
In just three years, the Ajax Mayor’s Gala has put more than $400,000 to work in Ajax; funding projects that support marginalized, and vulnerable people in our community.
“I want to thank the incredible group of people that came together to make this virtual road trip possible – from the Gala Committee members, to the production team, and guests. We are very fortunate to have the support of incredible sponsors that helped us bring this vision to life. I am excited to put this money to work in our community, and know that the Gala Committee has selected a variety of timely projects and impactful local charities to assist this year.” Said Mayor Shaun Collier about the event.
The Gala is proud to support charities making a direct, positive impact on the Ajax community:
- The Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation – Indigenous Community & Healing Garden
- Big Brothers Big Sisters
- Durham Children’s Aid Foundation
- Durham Youth Services – Joanne’s House
- Luke’s Place
- Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 322 Ajax
- The Salvation Army
Rose Collier & Sian Gibson, the Gala Committee Co-Chairs said “We are proud to be able to lend a hand to charities and innovative or timely initiatives serving the Ajax community. We hope you enjoyed the Virtual Road Trip as much as we enjoyed the production. A huge thank you to Eric Novak and Ben Stacey for their hard work, and to all of our guests and sponsors for making the 2021 Ajax Mayor’s Gala a success.”.
This year’s Virtual Road Trip premiered June 29 at 7 p.m. and featured highlights of Ajax’s storied history, unique places, and special guests including Ontario’s first Poet Laureate, Randall Adjei.
