Waitlist for autism therapy now nears 53,000: OAC

The Ford government’s failure to deliver core autism services to tens of thousands of kids has forced the Ontario Autism Coalition (OAC) to turn to the voting public for support.

On Monday, March 7th at 10 am, the Ontario Autism Coalition will launch a new advertising campaign to raise awareness of the massive waitlist for needs-based autism therapy during the run-up to the June 2 election.

A large mobile advertising medium will be revealed, and members of the OAC will be available for interviews. The event will take place at the Newcastle Travel Plaza, located at 3962 Highway 401 West, in Newcastle, Ontario.

Since taking office in 2018, the Doug Ford Conservatives have decimated autism funding in Ontario. The waitlist for needs based therapy has more than doubled during their term in office, and now sits at nearly 53,000 children. That’s more than the full capacity of the Skydome in Toronto, said an OAC statement.
