Watch fleeing suspect car hit, drag officer ‘several metres’

DRPS is searching for a 31-year-old woman and an unidentified driver after an officer was struck by their vehicle while they were fleeing from an attempted arrest in Oshawa.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday, March 21, at about 1:30 pm in the plaza at 22 Stevenson Road South. A DRPS officer saw a suspect from a recent auto-theft investigation allegedly breaching her release conditions. When the officer attempted to make an arrest, the suspect ran to a white Mercedes and entered the front passenger seat.

Police say an unknown driver then began reversing the vehicle, dragging the officer several metres before striking a parked vehicle and fleeing the area. The officer sustained minor injuries.

A warrant has been issued for the female suspect. Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone with video surveillance footage to contact police.

A 31-year-old woman from Quebec is wanted. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the driver, who is wanted too.
