Despite affordability challenges, many Canadian homebuyers would prefer to buy a single-family home over a condo.
In fact, a 2024 survey of Canadian homebuyers conducted by digital real estate platform Wahi revealed that most buyers (64 per cent) would rather own a house – especially younger homebuyers.
The company’s latest report reveals where you can potentially get a better deal on a house right now in the Greater Toronto Area if your budget is below $1,000,000.
Here are the top 10 GTA neighbourhoods where the median sales price of a single-family home was below $1 million in January.
- Central Oshawa: median sold price: $655,000.00
- Eastdale-Donevan, Oshawa: median sold price: $760,000.00
- Windfields Oshawa: median sold price:$782,500.00
- Downtown Ajax: median sold price: $789,000.00
- McLaughlin, Oshawa: median sold price:$790,000.00
- Neighbourhood of Georgina: median sold price:$800,000.00
- Central Park Brampton: median sold price:$805,000.00
- Uptown Ajax: median sold price:$819,900.00
- Brampton North: median sold price:$820,000.00
- Centennial, Oshawa: median sold price:$845,000.00
Of the more than 400 neighbourhoods within the Greater Toronto Area, 53 had houses that sold for under $1 million in January, excluding neighbourhoods with less than five sales, said a Wahi statement.
