Shots fired into car, victim unhurt – update coming

Whitby: Police are trying to identify a suspect after several shots were fired into a vehicle in Whitby early Wednesday morning.

On July 3 at about 2:30 am, members of Central West Division were called to the Whitby Mall on Thickson Road and Dundas Street for a shooting. The victim left Motel 6 in Whitby after a dispute with a female he met.

The victim drove away and was later followed by an unknown vehicle on Thickson Road. The victim pulled into Whitby Mall parking, when the lone suspect started shooting at the victim’s car. Several shots were fired at his vehicle and the suspect fled the scene.

The victim was not physically injured and contacted police.

Officers searched the area for the suspect while forensic officers searched the parking lot for evidence.

The suspect is described as male, black and he was operating a white sedan similar to a Hyundai. He was armed with a handgun.
