Woman seriously hurt after being hit by car

A 64-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the roadway in Oshawa Tuesday night.

On  June 15 at approximately 5:45 pm, members of Central East Division were called to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Dean Avenue and Hillcrest Drive. The female pedestrian, who was walking her dog, was struck by a dark Kia vehicle when she crossed the roadway.

The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Kia, a 55-year-old male of Oshawa was charged with Driving in Breach of Condition Prohibited under the Highway Traffic Act. The driver remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.

The roadway was closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation.
