Under-construction home fire termed ‘suspicious’

Durham Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in Ajax on Tuesday afternoon.

On June 15, at approximately 4:35 pm, members from West Division responded to an active house fire at a residence on Beachview Street. Ajax Fire Services were on scene tending to the house that was fully engulfed with flames. The house was under construction and not occupied at the time of the fire. The house was extinguished and no one was injured.

Witnesses reported seeing two suspects, wearing balaclavas, exiting the residence and fleeing east toward a wooded area.

The office of the Ontario Fire Marshall is commencing an investigation.

Investigators are looking for witnesses to come forward.
