Durham police investigators executed a search warrant in Scarborough and arrested the wanted suspect in a human trafficking investigation.
On May 21, members of the Human Trafficking Unit with the assistance of the Offender Management Unit executed a search warrant at a Scarborough residence on Kingston Road and arrested Kia Sampson, who was wanted for multiple human trafficking offences. During the search, investigators also seized a handheld Taser.
Kia Sampson, of Scarborough, is charged with the following charges: Trafficking in Persons Under 18 Years of Age by Exercising Control; Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided Under 18 Years of Age; Financial Benefit Trafficking in Person Under 18 Years of Age; Invite/Counsel Sexual Exploitation of a Young Person; Possession of Child Pornography; Fail to Comply with Recognizance; Obstruct Justice; Procuring Person; Under 18 Years of Age and Possess a Prohibited Weapon. She was held for a bail hearing.

Earlier, Durham police investigators requested that she contact a lawyer and turn herself in.
Two more victims come forward
Investigators have laid more charges against Daniel Bell, age 29, of Pickering, after two more victims came forward.
Bell was arrested on May 18 after two separate victims came forward and spoke to DRPS Human Trafficking investigators. Both victim were in their 20’s when they met the suspect in 2013. The suspect procured one of the victims to work for him as an escort in the sex trade and the other victim as an exotic dancer, police said.
Bell has been charged with: Material Benefit Forced Labour; Human Trafficking Forced Labour; Sexual Assault; Advertise Sexual Services and Procuring. He is being held for a bail hearing.
