Works start on widening of Highway 401 at Oshawa

The provincial Ministry of Transportation has issued a notice to the City of Oshawa advising the start of works to widen Highway 401 in the city.

The works will require the full closure of Cubert Street for about 40 days starting October 1 and ending on November 12.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is undergoing work to install a new watermain in preparation for the widening of Highway 401 in Oshawa, said the notice.

“As part of the construction operations, MTO will be implementing a full closure of Cubert Street from Bloor Street West (overpass) to College Avenue,” the notice said.

It said the street closure is required to accommodate watermain installation as part of the ongoing work to replace the Highway 401 overpasses in preparation to widen Highway 401.

During this period, both lanes of mentioned area of Cubert Street will be closed.

Appropriate signage will be installed ahead of the clos.ure to inform the public of the date and times. All detour routes will be clearly marked with appropriate detour signs to guide traffic.

Project information is available on oshawa.ca/MTO.
