You never know who or what is coming through…

It may be cold, it may be gusty, it may be snowy or rainy, but it is never dull for DRPS Traffic Services officers conducting the RIDE campaign across Durham.

“Never a dull moment on RIDE … never know who or what is coming through next,” said a tweet as a Canadian Armed Forces armoured vehicle rolled by (top image).

Sleepy Driver: In another instance, officers found out that a lady ordered from Wendy’s through a popular food service app.

The food was dropped off late, and the driver then fell asleep in front of her house.

“Male arrested for impaired driving,” said the police.

Meanwhile, North Division officers reminded the public that speeding increases a vehicles stopping distance, especially in the rain or snow.

Two drivers were going way too fast in a 70kmh zone (below) in Scugog, one being a G2 driver. Please obey the speed limit, said the police.

In another instance, a driver was clocked speeding at 113 in an 80kmh zone in Uxbridge. It cost the driver $238 and four demerit points.

Speed is a critical risk factor for road traffic injuries, as speeds increase, so does the likelihood of a crash, said the police.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) RIDE units were last evening enroute to an impaired driving call from a citizen in North Oshawa. No matter the outcome, we are always grateful to receive these tips from the public. If you see it report it. You could save a life, said a police tweet.
