Durham rally planned on Saturday against Greenbelt bill

A group of Durham residents are planning to organize a rally to protest Bill 23 (Build More Homes Faster Act), and Ontario plans to further open up 7,400 acres of the Greenbelt.

The plans are believed to include the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve, for new housing.

Stop Sprawl Durham, along with Blue Dot Whitby and Climate Justice Durham, is planning another rally to protest the bill and the opening up of the Greenbelt.

The rally will be held this Saturday, November 26 at 2 pm in front of MPP Lorne Coe’s office at 114 Dundas Street East in Whitby.

“We will be there to stand up and speak up to preserve our wetlands, forests, farms, and natural areas, along with the powers of our conservation authorities to protect them,” said a statement from the organizers.
