Speeding is aggressive driving, reminds police

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers from the North Division yesterday reminded drivers that any form of speeding is “aggressive driving”.

The reminder followed several incidents of speeding across Durham, even as DRPS is conducting the 2022 Festive RIDE campaign.

“Speed limits are set to balance road traffic safety concerns with travel time. Speeding is aggressive driving! Please plan ahead and obey the speed limit,” said a police tweet following a traffic stop (top image) in Goodwood.

DRPS Traffic Services, while monitoring traffic at Brock Road and Goodwood Road in Uxbridge, said the speed limit is a posted 60kmh.

Travelling at 101kmh (below) in a posted 60kmh zone is stunt driving. Appropriate charges laid, it added.

DRPS Traffic Services also reminded that a driver of a commercial motor vehicle must have a BAC of zero. Drive sober.

Meanwhile, East Division officers reported a nice day for a drive.

“But if you’re driving a commercial motor vehicle, absolutely no trucks on Concession Road 6 from Townline Road East to Bowmanville Avenue.

Exception: Farm Vehicles, Deliveries etc. to residential addresses on the 6th.

Fine = Disobey Sign $110 and two demerit points.
