Holiday Season: Enjoy and donate to Toy & Food Drive

Ajax Council is inviting residents, businesses and community groups to participate in this year’s festivities that started November 21.

It says the 2022 events offer something for everyone.

How to participate:

Santa’s Spectacle of LightsTOA Santa Claus Parade: Join us Saturday, November 26 starting at 6 pm. The parade will begin at the intersection of Bayly Street and Mackenzie Avenue, proceed east along Bayly Street and continue north on Harwood Avenue South, concluding at Ajax Town Hall (Bayly Street and Achillies Road). Enjoy a family-friendly evening of fun and entertainment with music, festive floats, and immediately following the parade, gather around for a special tree lighting ceremony and after party at Town Hall (65 Harwood Avenue South) and the Ajax Public Library – Main Branch. No registration is required. Visit ajax.ca/SCParade for more details.

The Fitzgerald’s Christmas: On December 8 at 7 pm, grab your ugliest Christmas sweater and join The Fitzgerald’s as they provide a cheerful, Canadian soundtrack to your holiday season at the St. Francis Centre. Back by popular demand, the performance will feature triple fiddle arrangements of holiday classics, songs by Canadian composers and high energy Ottawa Valley step dancing. Tickets are $38 each (HST included; service charge may apply), available at ajax.ca/SFC.

Mayor and Council Toy & Food Drive: The annual Mayor and Council Toy & Food Drive is accepting donations from November 21 – December 5 and is an opportunity for residents, businesses and community groups to give back. All donations will support local Ajax charities and families in need. For details, visit ajax.ca/Drive.

Family New Year’s Eve Party – Presented by Ontario Power Generation: Join us December 31 at the Ajax Community Centre, for a fantastic free event for the whole family. This event features children’s activities, games, live entertainment, interactive experiences, ice skating with a DJ and more. Party favours are included as participants gather on the ice rink for a special countdown and balloon drop at 9 pm. It’s a great way to ring in the New Year! Visit ajax.ca/NYE for more details.

“No matter how you celebrate, your traditions, or faith, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this year’s festivities in Ajax. I am excited to welcome you back to Santa’s Spectacle of Lights traditional route-style parade and the in-person tree lighting ceremony. I also encourage you to participate in the annual Mayor and Council Toy & Food Drive to help those in need this season! Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication and hard work to make such a special and memorable program happen. On behalf of Ajax Council, I wish you a wonderful Holiday season and all the best for 2023,” said Mayor Shaun Collier.
