Rollauer to be confirmed as chief until retirement

The Durham Regional Police Services Board (DRPSB) yesterday announced that Todd Rollauer, who has served as the Interim Chief of Police of the DRPS since September 2020, will be confirmed as Chief of Police and serve in that capacity until his retirement effective March 31, 2023.

“Chief Rollauer has served our community with exceptional dedication and excellence since being appointed Interim Chief more than two years ago,” said Bobbie Drew, Board Chair. “He has guided the DRPS with exemplary skill and leadership through a challenging period, and the board is proud to recognize his role officially.”

“I am truly honoured to be named the Chief of the Durham Regional Police Service”, said Chief Rollauer. This amazing police service is very special and important to me, and it is a genuine privilege to be recognized as its chief. I would like to thank the Board for this meaningful gesture.”

The appointment of Chief Rollauer is largely symbolic and confers upon him the official title of ‘Chief of Police’. In September 2022, Chief Rollauer announced his intention to retire at the end of
March 2023, and this remains his intention. He will swear his oaths of office at the Police Services Board meeting on December 12, 2022, said a statement.
