As Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) readies to kick of this year’s Festive RIDE season on Friday, it has clarified that it no Mr. Grinch.

However, violators will be penalized.

While it is coming up to the Holiday Season and cars get adorned with festive items, we at DRPS Central East Division Traffic Safety don’t want to be the Grinch, said a tweet.

But you can’t have your licence plate obstructed by anything even Santa’s Elves legs. It’s still a $110 fine under section 13(2) Highway Traffic Act, it added after pulling up this vehicle (above).

Meanwhile, the Town of Whitby Fire and Emergency Services (WFES) reminded drivers if stopped in traffic or at a red light, it is illegal to use a phone or other hand-held wireless communication device to text or dial.
