Huge 1,000+ unit complex proposed on Bloor Street

The Municipality of Clarington yesterday announced that a new 1,000+ unit development is being planned to be constructed along Bloor Street.

Minto Communities Inc. has submitted subdivision and rezoning applications to permit:

  • 253 to 318 single-detached dwellings,
  • 52 townhouse dwellings,
  • 331 medium-density dwellings (townhouses/stacked townhouses), and
  • 377 high-density units (mixed use).

The proposal also includes blocks for a park, environmentally protected land and stormwater management. The site area is 39.85 hectares (98.47 acres).

The property is located at 2149 Courtice Road (east side of Courtice Road, west of Hancock Road and north of Bloor Street).

To permit the construction of the development, a land use change has been proposed.

The municipality is seeking public comments before making a decision on the application for a proposed Plan of Subdivision and an application for a Zoning By-law Amendment.

The meeting will be held on December 5 at 6:30 pm both online or in person in Council Chambers, Municipal Administrative Centre, 40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville. A link to join the meeting using an online device or telephone will be available shortly before the start of the meeting at www.clarington.net/calendar.

Information and materials submitted in support of this application are identified and/or available for viewing at www.clarington.net/CourticeRoad or at the Planning and Infrastructure Services desk at 40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville, during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.).
