Police gearing up for Festive RIDE launch on Friday

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) and local agencies are launching the 2022 Festive RIDE Campaign this week with a strong message about the dangers of impaired driving.

Hosted by DRPS, this year’s launch will take place at Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby on Friday, November 18.

Featured speakers include Police Chief Todd Rollauer, RIDE Team Lead A/Sgt. Bob Baumgartner, Durham Region Transit General Manager Bill Holmes, Trisha Dosaj, Chapter President of Durham Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and John Ongaro, Durham Region Chapter Vice President MADD.

DRPS Traffic Services said although year round we actively check for sobriety, our service has a dedicated full time team during the Holiday Season comprising traffic and road officers making our roads safer.

Meanwhile, DRPS North Division said due to the increased vehicle thefts within Durham Region, North Division is hosting an Auto Crime Prevention event on Saturday November 19 outside Zehrs and Canadian Tire in Uxbridge.

It will be held from 1pm to 3pm.

North Division also reminded drivers to stop and yield right of way at all Pedestrian Crossovers (PXO) including this new location at Old Simcoe Road and Dr Archer Drive in Scugog.

DRPS Central East Division Traffic Safety Team reminded motorists to… drive safely as snow is in the forecast.
