Pickering is inviting pet owners to a low-cost Rabies Vaccination & Microchip Clinic.
Pickering Animal Services is partnering with the Durham Region Health Department and Millennium City Veterinary Hospital to host the special clinic on Saturday, November 26 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (O’Brien Room), located at 1867 Valley Farm Road.
Each service is $25, and while cash payments are preferred, alternative payment options will be available, said a city statement.
Rabies vaccinations and microchips are important in keeping pets safe. The rabies vaccine prevents animals from contracting the disease, should they come into contact with an animal carrying it. A microchip is a form of identification that carries a unique ID number, and is an effective way to ensure pets get reunited with their owners in case of separation.
“It is important to be a responsible pet owner and take the necessary steps to ensure that both people and pets in our community are kept safe,” said Lindsey Narraway, Supervisor, Animal Services. “Stay up-to-date on vaccinations and get your pet microchipped to ensure that if it is ever lost, we are able to bring you back together again.”
This is a drop-in clinic, and no registration is required. All pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier.
